REVIEWS!!!
Here are some reviews for Sharknife Volume 1. To be fair to reviewers, they are a mixed variety of both positive and negative reviews (although mostly positive :]). Please take a look and get yourself a second-hand opinion on the Sharknife spectacle.
"Sharknife is what you'd get if the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were cool and slightly ironic, or if the fight scene at the end of Scott Pilgrim went on for the entire book. It's a strange and energetic fusion of manga and indie comics sensibilities, with a healthy dollop of video games thrown in for spice."

"Sharknife is a good piece of work. It is a great representative of a certain subculture of youth."

"There's a lot of style in Sharknife, but little substance. If the art were allowed to speak for itself in a larger format, Sharknife could be a fun read. As it stands, Lewis' book is somewhat like listening to the Beatles from inside a Rubik's Cube. Puzzling, indeed."

"On the whole it's a fun, goofy and ultimately disposable little fight comic that reads as homage to the Japanese art form. Akin to the "Teen Titans" cartoon, it's not authentic but it has enough respect for its inspirations that it reads as sincere."

"It's almost impossible to describe the story and do it justice because the joy in this book is the strange experience of reading it."

"When my friend Pete and I first saw Fight Club, I wanted to go do all the things seen in the film. I wanted to destroy franchise coffee bars and get into fights for the sake of feeling something. Sharknife makes me want to huff Pixie Stix, listen to Yoko Kanno's anime soundtracks, and play Viewtiful Joe until my eyes bleed, and in a good way."

"It's not you, Sharknife. It's me. I'm just too old for you. We're at different places in our lives. You must sense it too."

"The heroes are utterly flawless, save when there needs to be a quick laugh. But everyone is ultimately perfectly controlled, perfectly cool, just perfect. And yet, to say there's no suspense in "Sharknife" (and there's most certainly not) is perhaps a misreading of the author's intent. "Sharknife" exists to be as awesome as possible, and all else is fodder for the ignore list."

"'Fight comics' is what Sharknife is being called, and Lewis certainly knows how to draw fisticuffs. It's hard to keep up in the fights a lot of times, though, because the design for Sharknife and the monsters he fights is hard to distinguish in black and white. But the sense of confusion and chaos kind of goes with the flow of the book in a way."
